Vattenshowens Pontus

Sveriges fjärde Show Special run - Mammutåsnan Pontus gjordes inför Vattenshowen 2019 och till ära av showens 25-års jubileum. Namnet är inspirerat från det grekiska ordet 'póntos', som betyder 'hav'. Enligt mytologin så var Pontos var en av universums första varelser och han förkroppsligade självaste havet.

Han var son till antingen enbart Gaia (Jorden) eller till Gaia och Aither (Luften). Pontos hustru var Thalassa, som var ett annat havsväsen, och med henne blev han far till havets alla fiskar. Guden 'Pontos' kallas på engelska för 'Pontus' vilket vi tyckte passade alldeles utmärkt för en söt 'stor-liten' åsna så det fick han heta.

Swedens fourth Show Special run - the Mammuth donkey Pontus was made for the Vattenshowen 2019 in honor of the shows 25th anniversary. The name is inspired by the greek word 'póntos', that means 'sea'. According to the mythology Pontos was one of the universe first creatsures and he embodied the sea itself.

He was son to either Gaia (earth) alone OR Gaia and Aither (air). Pontos wife were Thalassa, another creature of the sea and with her he became the father of all the fish in the sea. We picked the english name for Pontus that was 'Pontus' since we thought that fitted splendidly for a cute 'big-small donkey so that was what we ended up calling him.

Vi lät dessutom vattentemat slå igenom även i resinfärgen Pontus göts i, en vacker blå. Priset för Pontus var 330 kronor och enbart till utställare. Ett fåtal har kommit att auktioneras ut för att sponsra showen.

We let the watertheme follow in the resin color that Pontus was made in, a beautiful blue. The price for Pontus was 330 SEK and only to showers. A very few has been auctioned off to sponser the show. The coin show with a raw Pontus in the picture above are the swedish 5 crown coin. The coin are 23,75 mm (millimeter/millimetre) in diameter.

Vad är Pontus för ras?/What breed are Pontus?

Pontus är skulpterad för att vara en Mammoth Jack åsna, eller 'American Mammoth Jackstock' som den heter i hemlandet USA, är en storväxt åsna. Så pass viktig är just storleken för denna ras att det har varit fokus när det gäller registrering i rasregistret. Det är förstås möjligt att Pontus passar som andra åsneraser också eller kanske tom en (kraftig) mula? Sen finns ju rykten om en 'långörad noshörning' också - Pontus passar ju till nästan allt :)

Pontus is sculpted to resemble a American Mammoth Jackstock. The size is so important for the breed it is the key factor when the (real) donkey is to be registered. It might be possible that Pontus can fit as other donkey breeds or perhaps even a mule. There are also rumors regarding the mysterious "longeared rhinoceros" - Pontus can fit as almost anything ;)
